Your First Visit

Taking the first step toward healing takes courage. At Delta, we want your first visit to feel as comfortable and straightforward as possible — our team is here to guide you through every part of your journey, from your intake appointment to building a treatment plan that's right for you.

Home/Your First Visit

Starting care can feel like a big step. Many people come to Delta feeling unsure, overwhelmed, or simply not knowing what to expect. Your first visit is meant to help you feel supported, understood, and guided toward the care that fits your needs.

Getting Ready for

Your First Visit

Taking the first step can feel a little easier with support.

To help you prepare, you can download your intake paperwork below. If you have questions about the forms, insurance, or what to expect, we’re here to help.

Your First Appointment

Your first visit will be with a therapist and is called an intake appointment. During this appointment, your therapist will spend time getting to know you, learning about what you have been experiencing, and talking with you about the concerns that brought you to Delta. This is also when your mental health needs begin to be identified and an initial treatment plan can begin to take shape.

If it seems that meeting with a psychiatrist would be helpful, a referral can be made. Delta also provides access to an on-call therapist for client emergencies.

Getting to Know Our Providers

We know it can be comforting to learn a little about the people who may be helping you. You can visit our Providers page to learn more about our team and each provider’s areas of focus.

Please Arrive Early

For your first appointment, please plan to arrive 30 minutes early. This gives you time to complete any needed paperwork, allows our staff to verify your insurance before you meet with your practitioner, and gives you a little space to take a breath and get comfortable before your appointment begins.

You may print and complete the Intake Paperwork before your appointment. Even if you complete it in advance, we may still ask you to arrive early so we can review everything with you.

Insurance and Appointment Start Times

If you have private insurance, some providers may wait to begin the intake appointment until you have been informed of the coverage information your insurance company gives us. We understand that insurance details can feel stressful, and our staff will do their best to help you understand what is needed before your appointment begins.

Your Privacy Matters

Your privacy is very important to us. In accordance with the HIPAA Privacy Rule, Delta cannot share information about your care without a signed Release of Information form.

If you would like Delta to speak with a family member, a loved one helping you financially, or another provider outside of Delta Behavioral Health, a separate release form must be completed for each person.

Please keep in mind that without a signed release, Delta staff cannot confirm or deny that someone is receiving services at Delta Behavioral Health.

If Your Visit Is by Telehealth

If you will be attending your appointment by telehealth, please complete the telehealth consent forms before your visit.
