Brice, Maggie (MSW, LCSW)

I completed my bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. Following undergraduate school I went to Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York where I completed my Master’s in Social Work. After I finished my training I continued to work in Syracuse in a community mental health clinic that was part of a general hospital. My primary work was with adults in an outpatient setting. My work in the mental health clinic also entailed emergency treatment as well as inpatient treatment. Throughout my work experience in mental health I have trained Social Work interns in psychopathology and psychotherapy. I interrupted my work in mental health for a three year period to gain experience in working in drug and alcohol treatment. This was in a private outpatient treatment center also in Syracuse. Following this experience I returned to the mental health field to the same mental health center and began training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and continued to work with adults in psychotherapy. In 2004 I moved to Wilmington and began working at Family Services of Lower Cape Fear Counseling Center. My experience expanded to working not only with adults but also with children and adolescents. Therapy with children and adolescents had been a part of my graduate training and I had not had the opportunity to return to working with this age group until moving to Wilmington. In addition I had more opportunities to work with couples which had not been a part of my practice for many years. In 2006 I began private practice at Delta Behavioral Health. I work primarily with adults and couples, including my Dialectic Behavior Training (DBT) to assist clients in their individual and relationship growth. My clinical approach is grounded in Psychodynamic Theory but over the years with additional training and experience I also draw from other models of treatment to assist clients in their individual and relational growth.
