Jane St. John (MA, LPA, LCAS, CCS)
Each day I am honored to serve the clients of Delta Behavioral Health and work with the Delta team. My mission is to work with others to build a life worth living.
College included a major in psychology and psychological research at the Kennedy Center located at George Peabody College in Nashville. Later, I worked in a public hospital, where I became an assistant to the clinical director. Upon re-locating in North Carolina in the early 90’s, I started graduate school in UNC-Wilmington’s graduate psychology’s charter class of 1994. I graduated with a master’s degree in clinical psychology, with a specialty in chemical dependence. Shortly thereafter, I received my license as a Psychological Associate (LPA) and also as a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS). In 2009, I added the Certified Clinical Supervisor credential after a 2 year internship in the specialty of supervising those providing services to clients with chemical dependency problems.
Prior to opening Delta, I worked at The Oaks Behavioral Health Hospital at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in both their dual diagnosis program and the screening department before transferring to the Partial Hospital Program (PHP). There the PHP program was redesigned to be based on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) skills modules, an evidence-based program that was developed over 3 decades by Marsha Linehan, Ph.D., at the University of Washington, Seattle Campus, for the treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder. Much research on the effectiveness of DBT had accumulated, and supported DBT as an effective approach in the treatment of depression and anxiety, of eating disorders and addiction, and of schizophrenia, among other disorders.
Recent reforms in the North Carolina mental health service delivery system resulted in the formation of Delta Behavioral Health, PLLC. Delta is a successful private practice composed of a collection of providers from multiple disciplines. At Delta we work together to provide assistance to persons with mental health needs from all walks of life in building a life worth living. My time now as the Member/ Manager (CEO) of Delta is divided between administrative activities, providing individual psychotherapy, and leading DBT skills groups in Delta’s licensed PHP and Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program (SAIOP).
