Kristine Lapointe (MA, LPA, LCAS-A)
I am a graduate of the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where I received both my BA in Psychology and MA in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in Substance Abuse Treatment. Prior to attending graduate school, I worked at a mental health facility doing administrative work and continued to realize my passion and strong desire to continue pursing my career as a clinician.
While pursuing my MA, I worked part-time at Crossroads where I conducted drug and alcohol interventions with college students. Per the requirements for my MA and license, I completed my internship at Delta Behavioral Health and was subsequently hired upon completing my internship. I primarily work with facility programs conducting DBT skills groups for Partial Hospital Program, Mental Health Intensive Outpatient Program, and Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program, providing individual therapy, conducting intake assessments, and conducting crisis interventions. I also provide individual therapy with adults and adolescents for my outpatient practice.
I primarily use Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI) techniques with both adults and adolescents (14 to 17). I recently attended a DBT foundational training through the Behavioral Tech Institute and am currently working towards certification as a foundationally trained DBT clinician. Although I work with individuals with a variety of mental health struggles, my specialties include working with adolescents engaging in risk-taking behaviors, self-harm, suicidal thinking, anxiety and mood disorders and adults with Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Substance Use Disorders, and Borderline Personality Disorders. I am licensed as a Psychological Associate (LPA) and Clinical Addictions Specialist Associate (LCAS-A), as well as certified as a Health Services Provider-PA. I am available for BCBS and self-pay clients.
