Hiser, Andrea (MS, LPC, LCAS)

I received my Bachelor’s degree in Sociology at West Virginia University. I worked for many years with people with developmental disabilities, now referred to the IDD population. Due to the changing climate, my position was phased out and I had to look for another career path. First, I attended University of North Carolina in 2006 and received a Master’s in Liberal Studies, but it was not as career opening as I would had hoped, so I went back to school in 2009 and received my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2013 from Walden University, a CACREP-accredited online school. As part of my requirements, I completed my internship here at Delta Behavioral Health. I was involved in the Partial Hospitalization Program, which works with people with acute mental illness that are struggling with extreme emotions.

After graduation I continued to work at Delta until 2014 at which time I went to work a RHA Behavioral health and worked in their crisis/outpatient clinic. My responsibilities included Comprehensive Clinical Assessments, group and individual therapy and crisis assessment to a variety of different people, ages and diagnosis.

My preferred clientele would be ages 16 years old and older. My approach is Solution Focused, CBT and DBT skills training. My specialties are people with Personality disorder, Anxiety disorder, PTSD, substance abuse, trauma and LBGTQI adjustment issues. I offer something unique due to my almost 25 years in the general mental health field, and also being a newly licensed clinician. I am seasoned in life issues due to my age, however, I am bright eyed and bushy tailed (newly licensed) to help you find the tools and the hope to build “a life worth living.”

Along with DBT and solution focused, I am now a trained clinician in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). EMDR has been found to be very effective in the treatment for individuals who have experienced traumatic events such as sexual/physical abuse, military combat, and rape.

Currently I am taking BC/BS, Medcost, and Magellan. I am attempting to be paneled with other insurances. If I do not take your insurance, I am sure that we could arrange a sliding scale that would work.
