Alcorn, Brandy (MA, LPA, LCAS)

BrandyI received both my BA in Psychology and MA in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in Substance Abuse Treatment Psychology at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. While at UNCW, I worked part time at Coastal Horizons: Crisis Interventions/Open House Youth Shelter, Harvest of Wilmington and Crossroads. During that time I answered crisis line phone calls, cared for at risk youth, and taught drug and alcohol education classes. I am licensed as a Psychological Associate and a Clinical Addiction Specialist as well as certified as a Health Services Provider-PA.

As part of my requirements for my MA and license, I completed my internship here at Delta and was involved with the Partial Hospitalization and Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program. Upon graduation and licensure, I continued working for the facility programs at Delta. Soon after, I helped develop and begin the Adolescent DBT program at Delta.

Currently my role at Delta is Facility Programs Coordinator for the Partial Hospital Program, Mental Health Intensive Outpatient Program, the Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program and the Adolescent DBT program. This involves conducting intakes, facilitating group, providing individual therapy and case management as well as crisis interventions. I primarily use Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with both adults and teens (ages 14 and up). My specialties include working with individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder, Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders and Substance use disorders. I also work with women with issues surrounding body image, self esteem and trauma.
